Yesterday

Update from yesterday:

First of all thanks for everyone's actions and behavior through everything that happened. It shows one's true character when faced with adversity. I could not be more proud of this little blue band from C'burg, parents, coaches, drivers, first responders, and administrators.

Shaferria is doing great. She was able to go home late last night. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers.

To the students on my bus. Thank you for being respectful and most of all not panicking.  You all handled yourselves with great poise and maturity.

To the football coaches, cheer coaches, and administrators. Thank you for helping make what could have been an extremely scary situation into one of professionalism and true compassion.

To the parents. Thank you for all of the help, texts, water, rags, supervision, patience, and trust. Last night could not have happened without each of you.

Love being part of this Tiger Pride Family.

Resignation

Dear Parents and Students,
While this has not been an easy decision to make, I have decided not to return to Childersburg High School next year. Instead, I plan to take a position closer to my home and family in Birmingham. The four years I have spent at Childersburg have been amazing and I am incredibly proud of what you have accomplished. I cannot thank the band boosters, Mrs. Spradlin, Mr. Hooks, and Mrs. Ball enough for all they have done for me and the band, and I am confident with Mr. Hooks, and Mrs. Spradlin at the helm they will find an excellent replacement that will continue to help the band grow and prosper. This will also not affect the Childersburg Band Participating in the TCBDA Disney Trip next spring. All those that have paid for the trip will still be able to go.

I cannot wait to see what the Childersburg Band accomplishes in the years to come and if there is anything I can do to help of my students please do not hesitate to contact me at Rogersjamesm@gmail.com.  The band program at Childersburg is great because of the hardworking, dedicated, and loving family that makes up its members.  I wish you all great success.

Sincerely,

Mr. Rogers

Final Four Pep-Band

Parent and Students,
First off a huge thank you to Mrs.Spradlin for stepping up today and organizing the spontaneous Basketball Pep Rally. I am sure everything went well and appreciate our Band students for being flexible. There are still a few slots available for tomorrow's Final Four Pep Band. If you would like to go please bring your $7 to me first thing in the morning. Looking at our instrumentation we could really use more percussion and trumpets to participate. The plan is to leave tomorrow around four and stop at Brookwood Mall for dinner. We should have sometime in the mall to walk around before leaving for our performance at the BJCC. It should definitely be exciting to be a Band VIP tomorrow at the event.  Here is the itinerary. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NXvjWYAKWe2sEf8dRn6SKFQIiTP6Ymy9XOGQiEHc50U/edit?usp=docslist_api

Tomorrow's uniform is this years band shirt with dark pants (blue jeans, navy, or Black) no holes in the pants and everyone must wear closed toed shoes. Have a great night and I will see everyone tomorrow.

Regards,
Mr.Rogers

Welcome Back/ MPA Camp

Parents and Students,
I hope everyone has had a wonderful and restful winter break. It is hard to believe that the school year is now half way completed. During the next couple of months the high school band will be preparing for the Alabama Bandmasters Associations Music Performance Assessment. A music competition involving numerous bands from our area as well as hundreds from around the state. To help us prepare for this event we will be hosting the second annual MPA camp on Saturday January 9th from 1:00-9:00pm. Here is the itinerary (MPA Camp). This camp is a required events. Students who are absent for an unexcused reason will be deducted a grade letter and ineligible to participate in the state assessment. This event is a lot of fun and gives each member a chance to individually work with an expert on their instrument. I can't wait to see everyone this coming week and hope everyone has a great remaining few days of their break.

Regards,
Mr.Rogers
